As of July 1, 2020, Aullwood has reopened for Friends of Aullwood and National Audubon Society members! Access to Aullwood will only be through the entrance at 9101 Frederick Pike. The farm, Farm Discovery Center and all nature sanctuary trails will be open to members. (The Marie S. Aull Education Center and parking lot on Aullwood Road will remain closed to the public at this time with no trail access there; trail connections to Englewood MetroPark and Aullwood Garden will also be closed until further notice.) Aullwood is also thrilled to offer new extended summer hours to allow members to enjoy our facility and property during longer daylight hours. Our new hours are 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday and 1:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday. The Farm Discovery Center is filled with our native animal exhibits and there are new trails to explore throughout the property.
Our signature Nature Store & Gift Shop has relocated to the Farm Discovery Center as well. We have an expanded selection of products including meat and eggs for sale, and we will be offering sustainably-raised pork and chicken to our product line later in the summer and early fall. Purchases may be made with credit card, check or cash.
We have made key changes to our facilities and operations -- in consultation with the Ohio Department of Health, the Governor’s Office, the Ohio Museums Association (OMA), the Association of Nature Centers Administrators (ANCA) and the National Audubon Society -- to keep visitors, volunteers, members, and staff safe and healthy. These changes include limiting the number of people inside Farm Discovery Center, renovating bathrooms to be as touch-free as possible, daily deep cleaning of our facility and frequent cleaning of high-touch areas. Visitors are required to wear masks when inside the Farm Discovery Center with the exception of children 2 and under and those with medical issues. Single use masks will be available free for members. We will also be practicing social distancing and have established one-way traffic patterns throughout our facilities. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the site. All nature sanctuary trails will be accessed from the farm.
After evaluating re-opening protocols with our Friends of Aullwood and National Audubon Society members, Aullwood hopes to re-open to the general public at a later date this summer.
The Marie S. Aull Education Center at 1000 Aullwood Road, and its parking lot and restrooms, will remain closed to the public at this time. A fundraising campaign will begin soon to raise the funds required to renovate this much older building to bring its safety features and exhibits up to appropriate standards.
