Are you curious about the birds in your backyard or on your favorite trail, but aren't sure how to start identifying them? Join us at Aullwood Audubon for a hands-on Community Science Workshop and learn how to use two powerful, free apps — Merlin Bird ID and eBird — to enhance your birding skills and contribute to global bird research! Whether you're a beginner or a lifelong bird enthusiast, this workshop will guide you through best practices using Merlin Bird ID to quickly and easily identify birds by sight or sound, understanding eBird not only as a way to track your life list but as a powerful tool to help you find more birds in your area or while you travel, and understanding how your observations support bird conservation and help monitor local and migratory populations.
Birding is more than a hobby — it’s a way to connect with nature and make a real difference. This workshop is a great opportunity to build confidence in using these community science apps on your phone, meet fellow bird lovers, and become part of the global community of scientists working to protect birds and their habitats. Let’s go birding together!
