Fanciful Feathers
Saturday, September 06, 2025
11:00am - 12:30pm Eastern Dayton, Ohio
Location Details
9101 Frederick Pike, Dayton, 45414, OH

Birds have different kinds of feathers, each with a special purpose! We will read the short book “Feathers, Not Just for Flying” by Melissa Stewart, which received the John Burroughs Riverby Award for Young Readers. We will compare feathers to common objects in our lives which will help us to remember their purpose! For example, which feather is like a pillow? We will also match replica feathers of common birds, owls, wetland and shore birds with a template to discover what bird the feather belongs to! Fly on in and join us for this adventure with the birds.
Preregistration is not required for this event. We will meet in the lobby at Aullwood Farm (9101 Frederick Pike, Dayton OH 45414) and walk to the Outdoor Classroom together. You may wish to apply bug spray beforehand. This event is free for members of Friends of Aullwood, National Audubon Society, and ANCA affiliated organizations with membership card or receipt. Non-members attending pay regular Aullwood admission. Questions? Call 937-890-7360 or email AskUs@aullwood.org.
