Aullwood Audubon Land & Legacy Mosaic
The Mosaic Institute and Aullwood Audubon are partnering together for the collaborative creation of the Aullwood Audubon Land & Legacy Mosaic! This project is made possible with the generous support of The Wyse Family Foundation. The community created public art piece will span nearly 100 feet in length, including 3 separate sections and a new welcome sign. The mosaic will celebrate Marie and John Aull’s gift of Aullwood Audubon and its nature sanctuary as a lasting legacy for the Greater Dayton community. The creation process will kickoff in September 2024 and wrap up in late Spring 2025 with the installation of the mosaic at Aullwood. Follow the project through The Mosaic Institute and Aullwood Audubon on Facebook for opportunities to connect and join in the creation of this work of art!
The Mosaic Institute (MI) is a grassroots nonprofit arts organization which has inspired, empowered and unified people through the collaborative creation process for nearly a decade, led by Director Jes McMillan. MI has hosted dozens of amazing events and led the collaborative creation of over 40 public art mosaics across southwest Ohio. MI has assisted two cities with receiving a State award in the Parks & Recreation category and completed over 20 collaborative elementary school mosaics. Recently, MI was called upon to step up as Jes was part of the winning four artist design and construction team for the memorial honoring the 9 lives lost during the 2019 mass shooting in Dayton. The project was dedicated on August 4, 2024 and engaged more than 10,000 hands towards healing and the completion of a 480 square foot ground mosaic called The Seed of Life 8.4 Memorial.
